Ethernet

Ethernet is the accepted standard for communications protocol, which has its roots in software and hardware devices to the LAN (local area network)-structure. He was first introduced in 1973 by Bob Metcalfe at Dix (Digital, Intel and Xerox-) society. Ethernet was subsequently as a standard model for local area networks in the world.

The term Ethernet, as a rule, based on computer communication on the overall structure of the coaxial cable. Coaxial cable as a medium for broadcasting. The connecting cables, all the devices that form a communication channel that is connected to the airwaves. Ethernet is the basis for the title on the Ethernet.

This general concept of Ethernet on the original structure later for more efficient use and reliable system. It was not long before Ethernet-based standard based on a LAN (local area network) structures. A € "has been used to link Ethernet switches and hubs, more profitable and efficient.

Starla marked the first stage of technological development of coaxial cable to the Ethernet twisted pair buses for the network. This made the system more competitive on the structure of Ethernet technology significantly reduces installation costs.

Ethernet can be at different speeds with the appropriate fee category of the cable at any speed.

Categories Ethernet cable

Cat-1
Cat-1 wiring in the local regular Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) and Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN). ISDN is a digital standard for the transmission of POTS. This class is not approved by the TIA (Telecommunications Industry Association).

Cat-2
Cat-2 is a widely used type of wiring 4MBit / to Token Ring networks. As the cat-1 cat-2 cable is not a (TIA).

Cat-3
Cat-3 cable, commonly used in Ethernet networks, 10 Mbps Ethernet CAT-5 cable. This cable is capable of up to 16 MHz, the frequency data. Ethernet Cat-3 cable TIA/EIA-568-B.

Cat-4
Cat-4-cable in local networks in Ethernet, so that it works at 16 Mbit / s and can take up to 20 MHz. This type of Ethernet cable is not properly TIA / EIA.

CAT-5
Cat-5 Ethernet cable, category, usually in the 100Base-T and 1000Base-T. This is due to their ability to transfer data at a minimum rate of 100 Mbit / s at a temperature slightly higher proportion of Ethernet.

Cat-5E
Cat 5e Ethernet-cable category that properly TIA/EIA-568-B. This cable is virtually compatible with CAT-5, the only difference is the Cat 5e-twice as efficient and functional for a CAT-5 cable. Cat 5e-up to 125 Mbps and is ideal for the category of Ethernet 100Base-T and 1000Base-T (Gigabit Ethernet)

Cat-6
Cat-6 Ethernet cable has been designed with the fastest and most efficient technology compared to CAT-5-and-Cat 5e. This category of Ethernet cable can be up to 250 Mbit / s frequencies.

Cat-7
Cat-7 Ethernet-cable in applications where the frequency of 600 Mbit / This category includes various pair shielded cable for each additional pair, especially for the protection of the cable.
